Lake View Map

Here’s a quick map of the lay of the land at Lake View.

Tourist Road is up the hill from the lake, so the resort essentially has three levels going down to the lake:  roadside + cabin 6, then cabins 8, 7, 1-5, then the lakefront/car parking.

(Each cabin was numbered as it was built, and although this system can be confusing for new folks we don’t feel like we can change at this point.  Also there may be some extra and/or missing trees on this map.)

Cabins #6 and #8 have their own parking, while parking for the rest is down below.  There are stairs from the car parking area up to the cabins. The gravel pads shown between Cabins #1-#5 and #7 are for loading/unloading only.  We will make allowances for anyone with mobility issues, just ask!

Trailer parking is up on top, just off of Tourist Road for easy access.  Depending on capacity we may ask you to park your OHVs up there as well.

Of course we're always happy to answer any questions you may have.

Our Cabins

    Policies

Please reach us at dilakeviewresort@gmail.com if you have any questions.

Check In is after 2pm.  This allows our cleaning crew to do what is needed to ready your cabins.

Check Out is 10am.  Please let us know if you're leaving early so we can get a head start on the cleaning.

Our office is temporarily in our camper, just past the Lake View sign.  Please check in there, we'll let you know your cabin number, take payment, answer questions, etc.  PS we now accept credit cards!

We have four kayaks available for guest use, as well as life jackets.  Life jackets must be onboard if not worn, and all children must wear life jackets.  Children must be accompanied and/or supervised by an adult.

We have a couple 16' vintage aluminum row boats available, and we rent different size motors for them by the day or week.

We provide bedding and towels.  We have all new blankets and new quilts on our beds.  We provide bath towels, hand towels and wash cloths, as well as a couple dish towels and cloths.  Please do not use our towels as rags.  If you need a rag, we have plenty, just ask.

Our kitchens are equipped with a refrigerator, small range with oven, microwave, toaster & coffee maker.  They are stocked with plates, glasses, silverware, utensils and some pots and pans.  If you notice anything that doesn't work or simply won't do, please bring it to our attention.  If you require a specialty kitchen item, please bring it with you.

We do not provide paper products beyond  toilet paper. If you'd like paper plates, paper towels, napkins, please bring those.  There is usually a stack of coffee filters in each cabin, but if you'd like to be sure our machines take a regular round basket filter.

We do provide hand soap in the bathroom and dish soap in the kitchen.

Trailer parking is "up on top," just off the road past the Lake View sign.  We may direct you in this to ensure everyone has enough space.

Vehicle parking (for cabins 1-5 and 7) is below the cabins.  You may park on the gravel pads between cabins for loading/unloading, but otherwise please park down below to leave room for other guests.  Cabins 6 & 8 have their own parking.

We are not always near the phone, so please a message and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

We hope you enjoy your stay and let us know if you need anything!

In 2010, Michigan passed the "Michigan Smoke-Free Air Law."  This prohibits smoking in public places, including resorts, hotel rooms, etc.  This also includes e-cigarettes and marijuana.

We strive to maintain a clean, healthy environment for our guests, and our cabins are strictly non-smoking.  If you must smoke while at Lake View, please do so outside of your cabin, being mindful of open windows, neighbors, etc.

It is obvious when someone has smoked in our cabins, and we will not tolerate it.  It takes us days or sometimes weeks to get a cabin back to smoke-free, and this is time we simply do not have to spare during our short season.  If a cabin smells of smoke, it cannot be rented, and losing or cancelling reservations costs us money.

If we discover that a cabin smells of cigarette or other smoke, we will send you an invoice equivalent to a minimum of three nights stay, and you and your party will likely not be welcomed back in the future.

We require a minimum deposit of $100 to secure your reservation. Two weeks prior to arrival date, all deposits become non-refundable.   Things happen, but as a small resort, cancellations do affect us and we aren't always able to re-book our cabins.

Before making a reservation, guests should fully understand our cancellation policy. We occasionally experience outages and/or ferry issues that are beyond our control. No refunds or compensation will be given for outages, schedule changes or a delayed ferry crossing.

There are no REFUNDS or CREDITS for early check outs, even if the fish aren't biting.

While every cabin has its own grill and picnic table, our firepit, docks, fish cleaning shack and lakefront are common areas to be shared and enjoyed by all guests.

Our firepit is for burning firewood only.  Please do not try to burn garbage in the firepit, including beer and pop cans, chew containers, etc.

The break wall, pier and docks are meant to accommodate all guest & resort boats.  Please allow space for others, tie up your boats securely and do not allow your equipment, children, etc. to encroach on others' dock space.

The fish-cleaning shack is the ONLY place for fish guts.  Please do not clean or gut fish in or around the cabins, and use the buckets provided for fish parts.

The number one rule--fish guts stay in the fish cleaning shack.  Please do not clean or gut fish in or around the cabins.

Please realize we live on an island.  Be mindful about the amount of garbage you are generating.  We will soon have bins for Michigan returnable cans and bottles, or you can return them yourself at Sune's.  There are other recycle bins in the parking lot across from the town hall, which you are welcome to use.

Our dumpster at the top of the drive is emptied once a week, which is usually plenty.  You can help save space by flattening boxes, smashing water bottles, etc.

Each cabin has a garbage bin in the kitchen with a few extra bags in it.  Outside each cabin are two metal garbage cans enclosed in wood.  Guests are responsible for emptying their own garbage, so please at a minimum, tie up your bags and toss them in the metal cans outside.  Adam and the boys empty the metal cans once or twice a week, as needed.

We do have bears here!  Please do not ever leave garbage outside of the wooden structure outside your cabin.  Lots of our long-term guests carry their garbage bags up to the dumpster at the top of the drive, across the street.  We welcome and appreciate this, but if you are unable to do that and your outside garbage bin is getting full, please let one of us know and we will empty it for you.

If you have especially aromatic garbage, please bag it and carry it it to the dumpster.  Bears have been known to rummage through garbage near the cabins, so let's do our best to not entice them.
